Social-Emotional Learning at P.S. 83

At P.S. 83, we believe students learn best when they feel safe, supported, and valued. Our social-emotional learning (SEL) program helps students build confidence, develop strong relationships, and learn how to manage their emotions. We are committed to supporting the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally.

What SEL Looks Like at P.S. 83

Our students participate in daily activities that support emotional growth, including:

  • Classroom check-ins and discussions

  • Learning to identify and express emotions

  • Practicing kindness and empathy

  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution

  • Reflecting on their thoughts and actions

Skills Students Develop

Through SEL, students learn to:

  • Understand and manage their emotions

  • Build positive relationships

  • Work collaboratively with others

  • Make responsible decisions

  • Show empathy and respect
